How to make a Happy Planner Gratitude Journal

Do you struggle to see the good in the ordinary moments of life? Has your routine become so monotonous that you don’t notice you’re taking daily blessings for granted? I know I can fall into this trap and mindset if I’m not careful. Starting a gratitude journal would be incredibly helpful in changing this perspective. Keep on reading to learn how you can use a Happy Planner gratitude journal to shift your daily outlook.

Why do I use a Happy Planner, and what features do I love the most?

I love the functionality and the ability to customize a Happy Planner however I want. The disc system offers so much freedom to add extra pages, remove ones I don’t need, or even use completely custom planner pages.

In this guide, I’ll share my tips for creating a Happy Planner gratitude journal. I’ll walk you through the step-by-step process I use each time I set up my journal. Spoiler alert: there’s no right or wrong way! It’s all about being creative and having fun!

Step 1: Choose Your Happy Planner

Happy Planners come in all sorts of sizes—mini, skinny classic, classic, and big! There’s no wrong choice here. It’s all about finding the one that fits your lifestyle and gives you plenty of space for your creative bursts and gratitude reflections!

The photo below shows the size differences between three of my planners. Stacked from bottom to the top: BIG, Classic, Skinny.

Big. Classic. Skinny.

Step 2: Gather Your Supplies

Gather your essentials:

  • Your chosen Happy Planner
  • Colorful pens for writing and decorating
  • Inspirational stickers
  • Scrapbook paper or washi tape
  • Favorite Bible verses or quotes for inspiration
  • Gratitude prompt list: Get mine here!

These supplies will add flair and a personal touch to your gratitude journal, making it a joy to revisit every day. After all, who wants a boring journal?

Step 3: Set Up Your Gratitude Section

Set aside a special section in your Happy Planner just for gratitude! It could be a separate monthly spread or woven into your weekly layouts. Use stickers, washi tape, and scrapbook paper to make it a vibrant space that mirrors your personality and faith journey. Personally, I have a planner just for my gratitude journaling, and I use the weekly layout to jot down what I’m thankful for.

Step 4: Daily Gratitude Practice

Each day, during your quiet time or Bible study, take a moment to reflect on blessings big and small. Write down things you’re thankful for—family, health, answered prayers, moments of joy. This practice not only lifts your spirits but also fosters a heart of thanksgiving, aligning your thoughts with God’s abundant grace.

Step 5: Reflect and Grow

At the end of each month, reflect on your gratitude journey. Flip through your journal and see how God has worked in your life. This practice cultivates mindfulness and deepens your appreciation for God’s goodness, transforming your outlook on life.

Why Gratitude Matters in Our Christian Faith

Gratitude is central to our faith journey. It shifts our focus from self-centered concerns to God’s blessings. By intentionally counting our blessings, we acknowledge God’s faithfulness and provision in our lives. This practice not only strengthens our relationship with God but also enhances our trust in His plans for us.

Gratitude changes our way of thinking by:

  • Fostering Contentment: It helps us find joy in God’s daily gifts.
  • Building Resilience: It equips us to face challenges with a grateful heart.
  • Deepening Faith: It strengthens our faith as we recognize God’s hand in all circumstances.

Incorporating gratitude into your daily routine through a Happy Planner journal not only organizes your thoughts but also deepens your spiritual growth. It’s a tangible way to document God’s faithfulness and celebrate His goodness.

Creating a Happy Planner gratitude journal is not just about organizing your schedule—it’s about nurturing your soul. May this guide inspire you to embark on this meaningful journey of gratitude and creativity.

xoxo, Erin
