Post #6 Trusting God’s Faithfulness This Season
Advent is a season of hope and waiting. As we anticipate the celebration of Christ’s birth, it’s also a reminder of God’s faithfulness in every season of life. This year, I’m leaning into Psalm 145:13b, which says, “The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.” In the waiting, I’m learning to trust, rejoice, and recognize that God is moving, even when I can’t see it.
Trusting God’s Promises During Advent
Advent is a time of preparation and expectation, but it can also highlight the tension of waiting for God’s promises to unfold. Just as the people of Israel waited for the Messiah, we often find ourselves waiting for answered prayers, fulfilled dreams, or clarity in uncertain seasons.
In these moments, Psalm 145:13b serves as a lifeline. It reassures us that God’s faithfulness is constant, His promises are true, and His work is never idle. While waiting can be difficult, Scripture reminds us that God is always active behind the scenes, orchestrating every detail for His glory and our good.
Rejoicing Instead of Complaining
Waiting often exposes the gap between our desires and God’s perfect plan. If I’m honest, my natural tendency is to grumble when things don’t go my way. But this Advent, I’m making a conscious choice to rejoice in the Lord instead of giving in to frustration.
Philippians 4:4 says, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” Rejoicing doesn’t mean ignoring challenges or pretending everything is perfect. It means choosing to focus on God’s goodness, even when circumstances don’t align with my expectations.
Advent is a reminder that waiting isn’t passive; it’s an active opportunity to grow in trust, deepen our faith, and embrace joy, knowing that God’s timing is always best.
God Is Faithful in the Waiting
God’s faithfulness is woven throughout Scripture. From Abraham waiting for his promised son to Mary waiting for the birth of the Messiah, every story reflects His unwavering trustworthiness.
This Advent, I’m holding on to the promise of Isaiah 55:9, “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” When things don’t go as planned, I remind myself that God’s perspective is far greater than mine.
In the waiting, I can trust that He is faithful, moving in ways I may not yet understand. He is working all things together for good, just as He promises in Romans 8:28.
How You Can Embrace Hope This Advent
- Meditate on God’s Promises: Spend time reading and reflecting on Scripture, such as Psalm 145:13b or Isaiah 55:8-9.
- Choose Gratitude: Replace complaints with praise. Keep a gratitude journal to focus on God’s blessings.
- Pray for Trust: Ask the Holy Spirit to help you trust God’s timing and purposes.
- Rejoice Daily: Celebrate God’s goodness by choosing joy, even in the waiting.
Trusting God’s Faithfulness This Season
Today is the perfect time to trust God’s faithfulness in every circumstance. I challenge you to join me in holding onto the unshakable truth of His promises. As we lean into His faithfulness, we can rejoice in the waiting, trust His timing, and embrace the hope, joy, and peace that only He can give.
